Madhuri dixit Madhuri dixit, an Indian actress who is famous for her role in Hum Aapke Hain Koun (Beta Saajan) and Beta Saajan is one of the most popular Indian actors. The actress was initially famous for her 1980s role in Tezaab where she co-starred along with the veteran actor Anil Koopor. In the following film, she was a part of Aamir in Dil. Born into the Mumbai middle class family and started dancing when she was a child. When she was a teen she started acting, and struggled for years because most of her first films were failures. Her breakthrough came when she finally had success and she went on to be one of the top actors in the Indian film industry. After her wedding ceremony, she took a brief break from her acting career prior to returning. Dixit played an important role on Gulaab Gang, a film about women's struggles in India. Dixit was nominated fifteen times to win Filmfare Awards. She won 8 of these. Padma Shri is the fourth most prestigious civilian award in India. In addition, she is acknowledged for her work in the field of charity.
